Want to start your own neighborhood watch?

The police have provided guidelines and expectation for creating and registering a neighborhood watch. The Charlotte police guidelines are here. You may want to check with your local police to see if there are any differences.

The procedures, accessible through the link below, are proven to be successful for starting up a neighborhood watch. Feel free to improvise, however, based on factors that may be unique to your local neighborhood or situation. Your local police should also be able to advise you on special circumstances. These procedures are based on the assumption that the majority of people in your neighborhood area would support a crime watch.

Generating and/or varifying interest among your neighbors is really your first step. Talk to them and see how they feel about supporting it. Let's face it. If no one is interested in taking a stand against crime in your nighborhood, the watch is doomed from the start.
