THANK YOU, WELLINGTON NEIGHBORS!!!

The Wellington neighborhood watch kick-off meeting was attended by more than 10% of our residents. According to CMPD Officer Zeru Chickoree, the meeting presenter, that is a fairly high turnout for a kick-off meeting, by his experience.

What really impressed the CMPD was the overall percentage of residents who indicated their support for the watch -- nearly 70%!

Officer Chickoree provided us with very useful information, answers to some thoughtful questions and one initial Crime Watch sign. Some of the information will be posted to this site in the very near future, and the sign will be posted at the main entry way stop sign on Saturday, April 14 (if it doesn't rain too hard).

National Night Out
Last year, Wellington had a considerable turnout for the National Night Out (NNO) program. This year, we want to solidly blow the lid off! Here are easy ways to become involved or show your support:

* Volunteer for the NNO Committee
* Participate in community activities
* Leave your lights on August 7th: (Outdoor lights left on all night long)
* Buy and sell cool NNO merchandise* Volunteer for helping to promote NNO to Charlotte media
and organizations
* Write to Assesstant Attorney General Schofield to support funding for NNO (Here are the letter of explanation and a sample letter you can revise and/or send to AAG Schofield.)

Notify Me
This is an automatic e-mail service that notifies residents of an area about criminal activity that concerns the area in which they live. Currently, this only benefits the South Division, but there is an indication that more options will be added in the future and checking back is a good idea.
